ThrumThrum Mittens | Pattern

*this listing is for the knitting pattern only*

ThrumThrum Mittens are knit with a longer twisted rib cuff making them feel snug while keeping the cold out. They are constructed much like a standard mitten but with the softest wisps of merino wool roving thrummed in. Over time, the thrums felt together creating an extra layer of insulation and warmth for all your winter adventures.

This pattern is written specifically for Malabrigo Caracol yarn and any NON superwash wool roving. Malabrigo Nube and DHG merino wool roving were used for my samples.

You'll need approximately 80 yards of Malabrigo Caracol and 50 grams of wool roving. (be mindful that if you make your thrums too thick you will use more than 50 grams;) You will also need US9 (5.5mm) and US 11(8mm) circular needles with your preferred cord length for magic loop. The gauge for this pattern is 2x2”/5x5cm = 5 stitches x 9 rows in stockinette stitch using US 11/8mm needles.

The finished mitten is approximately 10" long and 4.25" wide and fits an average adult hand, it is meant to fit roomy.

This pattern is written for knitters with previous experience knitting mittens in mind and is considered intermediate/advanced.

The pattern is written for the magic loop method although DPN's would work as well.

Have fun with your thrums! You can choose thrums with a monochrome look matching them to your yarn colour. You can choose several different colours of roving and mix them up throughout your mittens, use your imagination and make what you love!
